Happy Diaries Linky – Week #16

Welcome to week 16 of  #happydiaries linky.
The origins of this linky is a post I wrote back in 2014, and reposted at the end of September    My Happy Diary  told  how I had started a diary to record only happy things that happened in my life.
The idea behind this diary was the theory that people (especially those with depression or anxiety) have a tendency to remember more of the negative evens in our lives than the good ones. The diary counteracted this tendency.
By only recording positive things, people can begin to develop the ability to focus more on the positives in life, and also have a positive reminder to read back at a later date.
This linky is an alternative to a diary. People can either write happy diary posts, or link up existing posts about positive things that have happened to them recently.

Come and join in and share your happy things, Tracey xx
The Rules

There are just a few rules for this linky.
I would ask that you display the badge somewhere on your posts.

Words aren’t always necessary, picture posts would be great too.

The linky will run from 10am (gmt) Thursday till 10am Wednesday.

Its Mine! (kids won’t share) A Parody Song To The Tune Of Take That’s Shine

Hello readers. I have been asking over the last few weeks if anyone had any particular requests for songs they would like me to rewrite and last week I got a reply. Natalie who writes Confessions Of A Crummy Mummy is partial to a little bit of a Take That and asked if I could work my magic on one of their songs.

Now I have to confess to not being a huge Take That fan. Not that I dislike them, but it’s not really the genre of music I prefer. However I have always liked their song Shine, and so I chose that one to have a lyric makeover. I hope Natalie likes the result.

The Husband Interviews – With Salt In My Latte

Hello guys. Todays guest interviewer is Carrie,  a blogger who has only recently come onto my radar. She is a funny, feisty mother of one from the grand old U S of A.

As you can see from her blog name, she writes about the honest truth about motherhood, the good, bad and downright funny. Posts such as I Drank Spoilt Milk tell of the misshaps of parenthood, while other posts such as Trying To Be Supermum are more serious, telling the real stuggles Carrie and her family are encoutering at the moment.

I sould also add that Carrie is a fantastic crafter and sells beautiful hand crochet products in her Etsy shop, so please go and check it out  here Stitchy Little Witchy.

Over to Carrie………..

20 Facts About Dragons

Hello readers. I have a confession, the title of this post maybe a little misleading. The post isn’t really about dragons, it more about Anxious Dragons or to be even more precise it’s all about me.

In the past month I have been nominated twice to participate in the Sister Of The World Award. Unfortunately I have already done this one a couple of times, so don’t feel I can publish another post with the same title. However I am always very honoured when my fellow bloggers single me out for these awards, and I quite like answering questions about me, so I thought I would answer the questions in a different post and give a shout out to the lovely ladies that nominated me, Eileen who writes These Are Grandma’s Thoughts and Mackenzie who writes Reflections From Me. If you click on the blog names, you can view each of the ladies Sisterhood of The World posts.  Continue reading →

Happy Diary – Spring Babies

Hello diary, it has been a better week than last week. Things are not 100% perfect but better than they were. This week babies are the thing that have made me most happy. NOT my own babies I should add, oh no that bridge has been burned.

Cake – A Parody Song To The Tune of Vogue

Hello everyone. Todays parody song is a tribute to my fabulous friend and linky co-host Agent Spitback. Anyone who knows Agent Spitback will have come to realise she has a bit of an addiction. Not blogging ( if that’s an addiction, were all addicts) no dear readers, my beloved friend is addicted to cake. What a fabulous thing to be addicted to, so much choice and guaranteed to make you happy even on the worst of days.

As for the the tune, this one was really easy again. The joint queen of Linkies deserved nothing less than the best, so that means the queen of pop Madonna.

The Husband Interviews – With Five Little Doves

Hello everyone. Todays Husband Interview is with an incredible lady. Laura who writes Five Little Doves,  a mixture of amusing tales of her life with her two absolutely adorable daughters, almost teenage son, baby boy and hubby, and serious even heartbreaking tales of her experience of mental health problems and baby loss.  Her latest post 8 Things No Bereved Parent Wants To Hear is an example of these serious posts while Love A Thousand Times Over is a beautiful photo post about her girls ( seriously, they are such angelic looking children).

While Laura’s girls get  lots of mentions in her posts, 11 yr old Lewis is not missed out, and today he is playing an important role in this post, in a husband – son interview playoff. Who will come out tops. Over to Laura……..

A Husband And Son Interview

I asked my husband and my eldest son Lewis, aged 11, to discover which of the men in my life knows me the best…

The Husband Interviews - With Five Little Doves

1. Where did your Mum/wife grow up?

Lewis – Euxton, Lancashire.

Gaz – Euxton

(Correct, hardly mind boggling as we still live in the same village!).

2. What are your Mums/wife’s favourite flowers?

Lewis – Erm sunflowers? Roses?

Gaz – Tulips

(I don’t actually have a favourite flower but for the sake of the interview, I’ll go with daffodils!).

3. How/where and when did you meet?

Lewis – When she gave birth to me. (Some confusion over whether this was how did Gaz and I meet or Lewis and I, but he seems very pleased with this answer and I don’t have the heart to tell him otherwise!).

Gaz – In our local pub, you staggered into me. (Techincally this is false. We went to school together and had mutual friends. Years later I did stagger into him in a pub, I was a divorced, single parent, times were getting desperate!)

4. What was/is your Mums/wife’s job (apart from parenting)?

Lewis – Nothing. No! Don’t put that! Delete it! A teaching assistant. Well you were. A blogger?!

Gaz – Housewife. Blogger.

(I’m not sure if I could class blogging as a job but it’s quite sweet that they both see it as that!).

5. When and why did your Mum/wife start blogging?

Lewis – To embarrass me? I’m joking. No mum get rid of that. Why are you just writing everything I say? Erm, because you wanted to write about us and you thought you might get paid?

Gaz – Because you’re passionate about writing and parenting?

(The truth is I started it to share our life with the children and as a family with others, because I love writing and to give me a few moments each day in the silence of the office!!).

6. What does your Mum/wife blog about?

Lewis – Me, Eva, Megan, Harry, Joseph. Our family.

Gaz – The kids, family life.

(Both true, I blog mainly about the children, the rollercoaster ride that we’ve had to get them but also about stillbirth, miscarriage, mental health and chronic illness.

7. What is your Mums/wife’s favourite perfume?

Lewis – That one that we saw in Boots the other day. I’ve forgot what it’s called though. It’s a really expensive one!

Gaz – A ridiculously expensive one.

(Both correct. It’s Dior, Addict. Very expensive but so lovely!).

8. What are your Mums/wife’s hobbies apart from blogging?

Lewis – Looking after the kids. I don’t know! You don’t really do much do you?!

Gaz – Reading. Shopping. Nagging. All the “ings”.

(To be fair, there is very little time for hobbies but reading is probably my main hobby. And I do love shopping. But Gaz is fast losing points for his nagging comments…).

9. What do you and your Mum/wife enjoy doing together?

Lewis – Erm, going out for tea. Erm, shopping? Erm can I just start this again? It’s hard when you just ask me like this! (I do love all of these things!)

Gaz – Slagging people off on the telly. (I point out that this is terrible if he thinks that this is the thing that we like doing best!!). Okay then, making love. (For the record, he has never referred to this as “making love” in the whole time we have been together!).

10. What does your Mum/wife love about you?

Lewis – Me. My smile. Everything?

Gaz – It’s hard to tell these days.

(Lewis is correct, I love everything about him. As for Gaz, his sarcasm is the thing I love the least).

11. What is your Mums/wife’s favourite authors?

Lewis – The person who wrote 50 shades of grey. Or is it 40?

Gaz – God knows.

(Disturbing that my son thinks my favourite author is that of an S&M based book. My favourite author is Jojo Moyes, I love her!).

12. How does your Mums/wife show you she loves you?

Lewis – She tells me. Gives me hugs. Tucks me up in bed.

Gaz – She takes less power out of her punches.

(Aww I love that Lewis feels loved. As for Gaz, I have categorically never punched him in any way whatsoever. Although right now, I’m very tempted!).

13. What are your Mums/wife’s best traits?

Lewis – What’s a trait? (I tell him) Oh. Your smile. You’re special.(This doesn’t feel like a good thing!).

Gaz – Goony smile. Twisted sense of humour. That’s it.

(Always lovely to receive a compliment from my husband….).

14. What are your Mums/wife’s worst habits?

Lewis – Going into my room and eating my chocolate. (I do do this. I didn’t think he had noticed, dammit!).

Gaz – Throwing things around the house, never putting anything back in its place. Never being able to find anything. General nagging.

(And here was me thinking he would have said that I didn’t have any?!)

15. What are your Mums/wife’s favourite telly programs?

Lewis – Big brother. I’m a celebrity. Geordie shore. Ex on the beach. Hollyoaks.

Gaz – Big brother. Ex on the beach. Any sort of reality trash TV.

(Sadly these are all true. Reality, trash TV is where it’s at!!)

16. Who are your Mums/wife’s favourite band and singers?

Lewis – One direction. I don’t really know. You don’t tell me.

Gaz – One direction. Justin Bieber. Eva Cassidy.

(Again, very true. I am a Belieber!)

17. What is your Mums/wife’s favourite meal and drink?

Lewis – Lasagne? Meat? A drink, does it mean like alcohol? You don’t really drink alcohol? Just like sparkling water or lemonade.

Gaz – I would have used to say rose wine and lemonade, now it’s more like flavoured water. Meal wise…jacket potato with tuna?! (I tell him that this is the worst favourite meal that anyone could ever pick!). Okay, a roast dinner?

(My favourite drink would be apple and raspberry sparkling water, they both know that seen as I drink gallons of the stuff. Favourite meal would be double cheese burger, fries, onion rings, all the good stuff!).

18. What would be your wife’s idea weekend away?

Lewis – Going somewhere with me and Gaz and all the kids. But where they aren’t screaming. Somewhere hot? Is that the end now? Can I do it again, I think I could do better this time?!

Gaz – Probably some sort of cultural/historical place followed by a spa day.

(My ideal weekend would be in Paris, my favourite city of all time. But I do like the idea of a weekend where the kids aren’t screaming!).

All in all, I think that it’s kind of a tie, but due to my husbands sarcasm I’m giving it to Lewis!! Thanks for the questions!! Xxx
